I don’t want to go back to work tomorrow. I discovered today that staying home and doing absolutely nothing is just the way to go. My wonderful wife has been taking very good care of me. She bought me this really cool espresso maker for my birthday, and I’ve already put it to good use. My very thoughtful kids got me presents that they picked out all by themselves. It’s just been too much fun. Now, I’m sitting on the couch, catching up on my feeds, checking all of the new posts to the photo group, and thinking about the incredible meal I will be dining on tonight. It’s just been a great birthday, even if I am getting old.
So far I don’t feel too much older. Maybe it’s because I’ve come to terms with the fact that youth is behind me. I’m not quite as quick on the basketball court as I used to be, have a few extra pounds around the middle, and a few less hairs on the top of my head. Even with that I’m quite enjoying this time in my life. I have a wonderful wife, 2 great kids, a satisfying job, and many fun things to keep me busy. I’m looking forward to the next few years and am not dreading getting any older. Rachel will be heading out to school, Andrew will be driving and going out on dates before I know it, there should be another puppy running around in the back yard… the list goes on and on.
So, here’s to the first 29 and looking forward to many more to come.
Sincerely,
Old Man Phil

Happy Birthday man!
(now, get your ass back to work. The CWTR in my 401k is shrinking!)
