Looking back at 2010 I’d have to say it had it’s up’s and down’s. Andrew’s accident this summer really was an eye opener on how fragile things can be and how fast things can change. He’s doing great now, much better than could have ever been expected and probably better than the rest of us. I’d have to say it’s brought us closer as a family and I know it makes me think a lot more now.
But I’ve also had lots of great stuff happen this year, lots of time with family, some great weekends spent camping on the lake, celebrated lucky number 13 with my wonderful wife, spent my second week at summer camp with the Troop, got a promotion at work, became a Bobwhite at the most awesome 2 weekends at Wood Badge, took on the role of Roundtable Commissioner, became Scoutmaster, watched Andrew earn the rank of Star, watched both myself and Bobbie Jo earn many awards and recognitions for all our hard work in Scouting, helped Rachel become more and more of a Boy Scout and hang out with all her big brothers in the Troop, met some really awesome friends across the country that share in the joy of Scouting, the list goes on and on.
It’s been a great year, but I’m looking forward to making the next year even better. I’m going in with an open mind, high hopes, and a willingness to sit back and enjoy the ride. I hope all of you have had a great 2010 and I wish you and your family all the best in 2011.
