I got to touch a Canon 1-D Mark III this afternoon. Didn’t get to take it out for a spin, but boy did it feel nice. My camera sensor is dirty, maybe I just buy a new camera instead of cleaning it. Hopefully the guys will let me shoot with it some time soon.
Here’s hopin’.

I work at a large company and have so for over 11 years now. In that amount of time you get to work with and know a lot of people. Not well enough to be friends, but well enough to greet each other as you walk down the halls. But I hate that it’s now common practice to pretend to be nice and inquire on how the other one is doing. Here’s the typical situation I encounter at least a dozen times a day.
You pass someone you know, but don’t work directly with, in the hall on the way to a meeting.
You: Hi (With a fake smile)
Co-Worker: Hi, how are you doing? (Also with fake smile)
You: Doing well. How about you? (By this time you’re passing the person)
Co-Worker: Doing well. Thanks. (Usually already passed by 3 steps and neither of you turn around)
Why does this bug me so much? Not sure. Just seems like a waste of time and you know the other person doesn’t get any real satisfaction out of either. What ever happened to the times where a simple nod would do and you save the real greetings for those you would actually stop in the hallway and talk to? Well, off I go to nuke my lunch. Hope no one is standing in the break room. That would be too much “non” conversation than I could handle right now.

Nothing is worse than turning on your TV and seeing nothing but black. You fiddle with the plugs and connections, you try other TV’s, you smack it around and nothing happens. Then you realize you have a $50 a month satellite bill, a $20 a month Netflix subscription and a TiVo full of shows that you can’t watch. Sad, sad times.
Well, no more. This is what’s sitting in my living room now.

We didn’t want to do it. My wife cried handing over the credit card at Best Buy. But once you put it in front of you and realize you get HD channels with your antenna all of those bad thoughts go away. So, I’ll be going home and drooling on myself in front of my super bright, super sharp, super cool new TV.

Quite some time ago, either someone forwarded me a link or I found it on Digg, can’t remember now, for a great YouTube video. I know there are a ton of really crappy ones out there, but this one was cool (click here if you want to know what I’m talking about).
The video was a guy playing a guitar. The dude was amazing. I found out who it was and looked him up on Google. Turns out he was a musician that was just starting out. Oh, his name, Erik Mongrain. I think he’s French Canadian, but can’t be 100% sure.
Either way, I kept checking back every once in a while when I got the itch for new music. His site kept saying that his album was coming soon, but soon never came. Well, that’s been at almost a year ago. I just happened to be thinking about it the other day and looked him up again. Turns out he was selling his album on his site. Not available any where else yet, but I’m sure it won’t be long before he’s on iTunes.
So, I downloaded it and have really enjoyed it. I don’t normally share my music tastes with everyone as everyone has just different likes in music, but this guy is very talented and I would think most people would enjoy his music. So, go check out his site and play some of the YouTube videos and see what you think.
